​Are you a senior citizen living in Melrose, MA? Managing household expenses on a fixed income can be challenging. That’s why the City of Melrose offers a Senior Citizen Water/Sewer Discount program, providing a 20% discount on your water and sewer bill.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the 20% discount on quarterly water & sewer charges you must meet the following criteria:
  • You must be 65 years of age or older on the day you apply
  • Occupy the property as your principal place of residence
  • Annual water consumption by applicant must not exceed 6,250 cubic feet.
  • Water meter must be upgraded and in working condition.

​Applying for the discount is simple and straightforward. Follow these steps to submit your application:

1. Complete the Application Form:

  • Proof of age - (State ID, driver’s license, passport, or birth certificate)
  • Proof of residency - (copy of electric bill, gas bill, or phone/cable for the property in applicant’s name)
  • Proof of income (e.g., tax return, social security statement)
  • Proof of property ownership - (copy of deed or property tax bill in the applicant’s name)
